orensen Cellars Wines
Sorensen Cellars 2002 Merlot
• From Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain.
• A soft merlot exhibiting notes of Lambert Cherries and Plum jam. I also find notes of Chocolate and Coffee on the mid-palate.
• Blended with 12% Cabernet Franc.
• Pair with Grilled Lamb.
2004 Sorensen Rosé of Cabernet Franc
• A
new wine for Sorensen, a beautiful light copper color with hints of
fresh
strawberry jam on the nose.
• Again, I find creamy strawberry characters
on
the palate.
• A dry rose with a hint of sweetness. This is a great
picnic
wine to serve throughout the summer.
2003 Sorensen Cabernet Franc
• Sorensen has produced a Cabernet Franc from this vineyard
four different
vintages. It is located near Sunnyside in the Yakima Valley growing region
• On the nose I find rich, dark fruits with just a hint
of flowery notes
• The palate offers a rich, smooth mouthfeel with good
acids and very subtle
herbal notes
• Try pairing with a Muscovy Duck Salad
2005 Sorensen Sangiovese
• A blend of two vineyards, Kiona on Red Mountain, and
Snipes Canyon Ranch in the Columbia Valley
• A juicy, fruity Sangiovese, offering light pie cherry and raspberry notes on the palate.
• Try pairing this wine with a rustic Italian dish, such as linguine with sausage and clams in a rich tomato sauce
2004 Sorensen Syrah
• These grapes were grown in the new Horse Heaven Hills appellation at Aldercreek Vineyards
• This wine still shows a bit tight, but when it opens I find smoke and cedar on the nose. Licorice and cassis on the palate with a nice integration of American Oak
• Medium bodied fruit with expansive, silky mouthfeel. Try offerring this with a spicy barbequed rack of ribs
